1-6. Removing/Installing the Cabinet
1-6-3. Upper Frame
c
The unit is equipped with shielding springs which have sharp edges.
Do not touch them with bare hands. Pay careful attention when servicing.
n
The upper frame can be installed either to the player or recorder in the same manner. When reinstalling,
make sure that the upper frame is not coupled with the wrong VTR.
To identify each VTR, refer to Section 1-4-1.
Removal
1. Separate the player and recorder. (Refer to Section 1-6-1.)
2. Remove the battery sub panel. (Refer to Section 1-6-2.)
3. Remove the harnesses from the SY guard and disconnect the four boards (SY-259/259A, SY-260,
DPR-87, and VPR-34). (Refer to Section 1-8-1.)
4. Disconnect the four connectors (CN1, CN2, CN3, and CN13) on the CN-1535 board.
5. Open the display panel.
6. Insert a driver or similar item into the rectangular hole and unhook as shown in the figure. Open the
control panel.
7. Fully loosen the four screws securing the upper frame. Remove the upper frame by lifting up.
n
Each screw is held by a stop washer. Do not separate the washer from the screw when loosening.
Installation
1. Open the display panel and control panel.
2. Confirm that the springs and screws of the blind panel and the spring of the release lever are not out
of place.
3. Install the upper frame and fix it with four screws.
n
. The harness routing varies depending on the serial number of the VTR.
. During installation of the upper frame, take care that the harnesses are not caught between the
upper and lower frames.
. Install so that the release lever is put between the main frame and the blind panel of the cassette compartment.
. After the upper frame is installed, push the hook gently in the direction indicated by the arrow and
confirm that it returns to the former position by the spring force. If not, raise the upper frame
slightly and install it again.
4. Close the control panel and display panel.
5. Connect harnesses to the four connectors (CN1, CN2, CN3, and CN13) on the CN-1535 board.
n
Take care that the harness between the connector (CN1) on the CN-1535 board and the connector
(CN201) on the MB-757 board is easy to disconnect on the MB-757 board side. The harness connec-
tor is low in pin strength. Therefore, confirm the direction of the connector fully when it is inserted.
Do not apply excessive force in this case.
6. Insert the SY-259/259A, SY-260, DPR-87, and VPR-34 boards. (Refer to Section 1-8-1.)
7. Install the battery sub-panel.
8. Confirm that the four screws on the connector panel are not loosened.
If so, tighten them again.
