CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION
V. PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN IN SERVICING
A. Battery backup function
This unit is provided with a function for backing up data stored in the unit during a
power outage and when the main power supply has been turned off. Consequently, no
data are deleted when the power is turned off (temporary storage).

Memory typeControl memoryImage memory
Backup battery typeLithium batteryVanadium-lithium
secondary battery
The backup battery is a vanadium-lithium secondary battery that can backup image
data for up to 3 hours if the unit has been on continuously for one day or longer under
normal room temperature and humidity conditions. When the data backup time is less
than half, even though these conditions are met, the battery has reached the end of its
service life or the ambient environmental conditions are not as required. The battery will
be depleted when it has been fully charged and discharged more than 40 times (at
25°C). The image data are deleted when the battery backup time is exceeded. The ser-
vice life of the lithium battery is 5 years. Image data will also be deleted when the
jumper plug (JP1) on the image processor PCB is moved from the ON position, even
when the battery is backing up the data.
Note that the jumper plug (JP1) on the image processor PCB is set to OFF at the
factory at time of shipment, to prevent battery depletion. The jumper plug (JP1) must be
set to ON when the image processor circuit is replaced.
Caution:
To prevent possible image data loss, be sure to print all image data stored in the unit
when turning it off prior to service.
